Estimates and Fees
Estimates and Fees
Members of Downs Anaesthetic Practice endeavour to ensure every patient receiving anaesthetic services knows what to expect regarding their anaesthetic fee.
Upon the receipt of patient information for surgery, we prepare an estimate of anaesthetic fees with details of rebates from Medicare, your Health Insurance provider and the expected out of pocket expense known as a "gap". The size of the gap amount charged will depend on the fee charged for the anaesthetic and the rebates provided by your insurance company. Some anaesthetic fees are required to be paid in full prior to the procedure taking place. This information will be posted or emailed to you prior to surgery. If there is a time restriction prior to your surgery we will endeavour to contact you by phone or text message.
Accounts for anaesthetics are based on the amount of time the anaesthetist spends with the patient. Whilst care is taken when an estimate is being prepared, there are times when a patient will be required to pay more than expected, and times that a procedure does not take as long as expected. If a patient has prepaid us for a procedure which does not take the time expected a refund will be given. Please be aware if your procedure is an emergency or takes place after hours, the total account will include additional item numbers thereby increasing your final invoice amount.
After consultation with your surgeon, patients are encouraged to contact us to obtain an estimate of anaesthetic fees by calling our office on 07 4638 5711, or click here to complete an estimate of fees request form.
